Ancestry Library Edition
The New Ulm Public Library (NUPL) subscribes to Ancestry Library Edition which allows patrons, here at the library, to access a greater number of records and features than a regular account with Ancestry.
Library patrons will be able to enjoy access to thousands of free online arts and craft lessons, from baking to drawing, by creative experts through Creativebug. You can set up an account with Creativebug with your library card number and PIN.
Digital Learn is a website managed by the Public Librarian Association that offers free, step-by-step technology classes to improve computer and mobile device skills. Easy-to-follow lessons are designed to make even the most basic learner feel comfortable and confident.
Libby by Overdrive
Through the Traverse des Sioux Library System, we subscribe and have access to e-books and audiobooks through Overdrive's Libby app available on Android and Apple devices. To gain access, you input your library card number with your library card password for the library catalog. If you have any questions, call the library at 507-359-8331 or email us to reset your password.
Mango Languages offers over 70 languages to learn including Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, Portuguese and more! You can create an account with your email to keep track of your progress or you can click the "Use Mango As A Guest" link to use your library card number to get started. Each language module has multiple units broken into chapters with smaller sections and includes listening and practice exercises. It even has an app for android and apple for learning and practice on the go!
Minitex services offer a variety of resources including scholarly databases from high school to graduate level, item requests from libraries across the state, historical archives, job and licensure exam preparation, over 9,000 e-books for all ages, and a robust online module for writing, editing, and publishing your own work!
Traverse des Sioux Library Cooperative
Traverse des Sioux Library Cooperative strengthens, improves, and promotes collaboration among libraries by providing support services and coordinating shared access to resources, programs, and technologies for public, school, academic, and special libraries in its nine-county service area.
Virtual Author and Webinar Presentations

You can also view recordings of past events - no registration required.
Memory Lab Network
The New Ulm Public Library is a part of the nationwide Memory Lab Network. Patrons can access the Memory Lab to convert the following to digital files and then edit those digital files.
- 3.5-inch floppy discs
- Audio cassettes
- Betamax tapes
- VHS tapes
Remember that digitization occurs in real time. This means that if you bring a two-hour-long home movie to digitize, then the actual time for just the digitization itself will take two hours. You are required to stay to monitor the full digitization process of your materials. We offer digital preservation classes and training to the public. Check out the Visual Guide (PDF) for an introduction. To set up an appointment to use the Memory Lab, fill out a reservation form.
