The New Ulm Human Rights Commission (HRC) is proud to announce that it is seeking to fill two student commissioner seats. The seats would be non-voting and would be filled by high school-age students. We are looking to fill a 1 or 2 year term with a current freshman, sophomore, or junior and a 2 year term with a current freshman or sophomore. The terms would begin and end in August. Applicants must be current residents of the City of New Ulm. The deadline for submitting an application is May 31st.
The Mission of the HRC is to guarantee equality for each individual in employment opportunities, housing, public accommodations, public services, education, credit services and in business. The HRC aims to educate our community on human rights issues through community outreach.
The HRC meets one time per month; the fourth Monday of the month at 5:15 p.m. at City Hall.
HRC is excited about the opportunity to explore the perspectives of our community’s young people and to create a closer relationship with our community’s schools. Applications are available or contact Lisa Grathwohl at 359-8235 or LisaG@newulmmn.gov
