Reference service may involve directly supplying the answer to a question or helping users identify and utilize materials for independent inquiry. The nature of any given reference question and the need of the information seeker will dictate the process and the extent of information that can be provided, as well as the response time. Reference service will be commensurate with available resources and staffing.
In instances of legal, medical, investments or tax reference questions, the staff only guides the patron to the materials available on the topic of interest. The staff does not evaluate or interpret the information provided nor may the staff define the meaning of terms, offer investment advice, select income tax forms or serve as a surrogate for a professional in any of the fields listed above.
Information about most library events including links to online registration forms can be found on the library's events calendar here.
Please let us know what your hours of availability are to shorten the time needed to schedule your appointment. Technology assistance appointments are available on a limited basis depending on the schedule and availability of staff.
Remember that you can place items on hold by calling the library at 507-359-8331 or online through your account using your library card number and password in the online catalog. If you do not remember your password, you can call the library, and we will help you reset it.
You must have a library card in order for staff to place a hold on an item in your behalf. Library card applications are available at the Service Desk. Please have a photo ID and proof of current address when you submit your completed application.
Do you know the title, author, or publication date? Do you know the name of the series if it is part of one? If it is a movie or television show, do you know the name of an actor in the show?
We appreciate your reaching out to the New Ulm Public Library. Your submission has been sent to our staff. Please allow up to 24 hours for our staff to respond to your request due to differences in staffing availability and request complexity.
