The City of New Ulm Emergency Management (EM) team strives to maintain preparedness to protect our citizens, workers, visitors, and environment from the impacts of natural and man-made incidents and disasters. EM staff continually works on preparedness, disaster mitigation, response, and recovery. By utilizing training and resources, we can maximize the protection of life and property, prepare for and respond to emergencies and recover to a state of normalcy, ensure the continuity of government; and provide support to all areas in the city that require assistance. We work closely with Brown County Emergency Management, Minnesota Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
The City of New Ulm Emergency Management (EM) is led by Director Dave Borchert and Assistant EM Director Ellwood Zabel. The EM Directors collaborate with additional City and Public Utilities staff, using the Incident Command System; a method for providing direction and control for disaster incidents.
