About the Commission

As defined in Section 9.19 of the City Code, this commission has the responsibility of recommending to the City Council the adoption of:

  • Buildings
  • Ordinances designating areas
  • Places
  • Structures
  • Works of art
  • Other objects having special historical, cultural, or architectural interest for the community as heritage preservation landmarks or districts

Signage & Awning Grant Program

To be eligible, project designs must receive Heritage Preservation Commission approval before work begins. Applications for Design Review and Signage and Awning grants may be obtained at the Planning and Inspections Department at City Hall. View more information about the grant program.
