Absentee Voter Eligibility

You are entitled to vote by absentee ballot for every election when you are unable to go to your polling place due to:

  • Absence from the precinct
  • Illness or disability
  • Religious discipline or observance
  • Service as an election judge in another precinct

Absentee Ballot by Mail

You may also request an absentee ballot by mail, by using a form that the Auditor-Treasurer has provided, by downloading a form from the Minnesota Secretary of State website, or by writing a card or letter that indicates essential points.

  • The date the voter signed
  • The reason for voting absentee
  • The voter's date of birth (optional)
  • The voter's name and residential address
  • The voter's signature
  • Where the clerk should mail the ballot to
  • Which election the request is for
