Library Closed: Veterans Day

Needleworking Group

Come work on your needle working project in a fun group every Wednesday from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the library! The group is not a class and is designed for ages 16 and up. All types of needlework are welcome, and you can come when you're able and leave when you need. We hope to see you there!

Art Group

A self-directed art group will meet each Wednesday from 1:30-3:30 PM at New Ulm Public Library starting September 10, 2025 and ending November 19, 2025. Artists of all levels and abilities are welcome to join this adult group. Artists should bring their own materials and ideas. All materials must be non-odorous. Pajama Party Storytime

New Ulm Public Library is excited to present a Pajama Party storytime, which meets on Wednesday nights at 6:30 p.m. in the children’s room. Fall storytime season for Pajama Party continues Wednesday, November 12, and ends Wednesday, December 17. Wear your pajamas and bring your favorite stuffed animal for songs and stories before bed. Creative Kids

Are you a curious kid in kindergarten or first grade? Join us for Creative Kids on Thursday, November 13, at 3:30 p.m. in the library meeting room. Visit with Forensic Psychologist and True Crime author Frank Weber

Thursday, November 13, 2025, Forensic Psychologist & True Crime author Frank F. Weber will be speaking at the New Ulm Public Library from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Frank will walk attendees through profiling a case that lacked evidence, and give a live demonstration of a lie detector test (volunteer a friend). Frank will speak about his forensic work and the writing of true crime mysteries. Frank’s 2025 release, The Sun, will be available at the event. The Sun is based on a Minnesota mystery that was once touted as “the crime of the century.” Frank will be at New Ulm Library signing books and answering individual questions by 6:00 p.m. and will be available after the event.

Senior Movie Matinee: Doubt

The CAST Senior Center is partnering with the New Ulm Public Library to bring you Movie Matinees for Seniors! Held in the meeting room in the lower level of the New Ulm Public Library, we will present a different movie each Friday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. These movies are free, and everyone is welcome to attend. No preregistration is needed. See some old favorites and maybe discover some new ones. Join us for a fun afternoon of classic cinema! This week’s movie is Doubt from 2008.

Teen Video Gaming Club

Hey teen gamers, join us for Video Gaming Club on Saturday, November 15. We’ll meet at 2:00 p.m. in the library meeting room to play games, eat snacks and teach Ms. Kathryn how to play. They meet every Monday afternoon starting at 3:45 PM. Can't get there right away? The game is flexible for you to hop in when you are able and hop out if you have to go early. Never played Pathfinder before? No problem! Our experienced Game Master will be happy to walk you through the game learning process so you can enjoy the roleplaying experience. Tales of Crime and Corruption: the Dark Side of Brown County in the 1930s

Join Brown County Historical Society’s Carla Fjeld for a fascinating presentation at the New Ulm Public Library on Monday, November 17 at 6:30 p.m. Come learn more about what it was like to live in Brown County during the 1930's! The presentation tells the secret stories of our county's involvement in counterfeiting rings, bootleggers, holdups and gangsters. It also highlights Brown County's experiences during Prohibition, the attitudes of the people of Brown County toward Prohibition, the effects it had on Brown County's three operating breweries, and the ways in which people ignored or bypassed Prohibition. History Book Club Discussion

Join the History Book Club on Tuesday, November 18, at 12 p.m. to discuss “Bandit Heaven” by Tom Clavin. The group meets on the third Tuesday of each month and will be meeting at the City Center Apartments for the winter. The apartment building is located at 115 S. Jr. Video Gaming Club

Junior video gamers, we are looking for you! Join us for Jr. Video Gaming Club for students in grades 2 through 5 on Tuesday, November 18. We’ll meet at 3:30 p.m. in the library meeting room to play games, eat a snack and teach Ms. Kathryn how to play. This program is for students in second through fifth grade. Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Campaign

Are you ready to explore The Grand Library? Do you have an itch in your imagination or an ache for adventure? Then come join one of three groups on the epic search for Books Wanted! One group meets in person weekly on Tuesday afternoons at 4:15 PM. The other two groups meet online according to player schedules using Discord and Roll20 applications. Never played Pathfinder before? No problem! Our experienced Game Master will be happy to walk you through the game learning process so you can enjoy the roleplaying experience. This first campaign is limited to 6 people in each group. The in-person group is currently full, but spectators are welcome! The online groups have 2 and 3 slots available respectively. New Ulm Chess Club

Be part of New Ulm’s new Chess Club! The Chess Club will meet at the New Ulm Public Library every Tuesday evening from 6-7:45 PM upstairs in the adult non-fiction area. Everyone is welcome whether you are a beginner or have been playing for years, if you’re 9 or 90, we’d love to have you join us!

Minnesota Valley Civil War Round Table

Join us on Tuesday, November 18, at 6:30 p.m. for the Minnesota Valley Civil War Round Table’s next meeting. The Minnesota Valley Civil War Round Table meets on the third Tuesday of each month between September and May at the New Ulm Public Library. Each meeting features a presenter, discussion topic, or book topic related to the Civil War. If you would like to be a presenter or have a topic request, please call the library at 507-359-8331. No School Movie Day

New Ulm Public Library is excited to present No School Movie Day. On Wednesday, November 26 please join us for “The Year Without a Santa Claus.” The movie is not rated and has a 60-minute running time. We will sit down to watch the movie at 2 p.m. in the children’s room. Popcorn will be served; please bring your own water bottles. Movie screenings at the library are free and open to the public and are sponsored by the Optimist Club of New Ulm.
