[ARCHIVED] Natural Gas Peak Alert

Gas Stove

New Ulm Public Utilities (NUPU) is notifying customers of the recent increase in natural gas prices. Please be aware that the price of natural gas will continue due to the extreme weather in the region. Please share this post to help notify others in the community.

Ways to reduce natural gas consumption in your home:
- Turn down your thermostat.
- Minimize doing laundry if possible. If you need to do laundry, use cold water to reduce water heater usage. Many water heaters in the community use natural gas.
-Taking a shower uses much less water than filling up a bathtub. A shower only uses 10 to 25 gallons, while a bath takes up to 70 gallons! By doing this you also save on water heater usage.
-Avoid using natural gas appliances to cook. Use a toaster oven or microwave.

Thank you and stay safe.
